ABOUT
A lifelong learner/explorer/crafter, I‘ve worked in a variety of media over the years – fabrics, inks, acrylics, paper, watercolor, acrylics and now cold wax and oil painting. Not having any formal art instruction I’ve learned through workshops and online classes. In February 2020 I took a class in painting in cold wax and oils while on vacation. The following years of Covid quarantine allowed me time to research and explore the medium.
I constantly challenge myself to try different painting styles and techniques. Due to its slow drying time cold wax allows time to explore, change and have fun with my inspirations. I can work on a series of paintings and after a couple of hours return to the first painting to add more layers. One day I may be interested in a color statement and the next an arrangement of texture.
Most recently my works have focused on my gratitude for the natural world and a desire to celebrate the little (and large) things in our surroundings In addition to the natural world, my inspiration may reflect images of my real or imagined travel.
